Iron Void return to the studio

Iron Void will record their first studio material with their new line up this weekend. New song The Mad Monk is planned for a limited edition split 7" vinyl release with Leather Nun America early next year.  The song is inspired by both the classic 1966 Hammer film Rasputin The Mad Monk (see the video below) starring Christopher Lee, and also the real life story of Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin (1869 – 1916). The new song will be exclusive to this split vinyl release and will not be on the full length debut album - more news on that later.

The current plan is to co-produce the record between Doomanoid and Leather Nun's label psycheDOOMelic Records.

 GROAN/VINUM SABBATUM - Split CD (NOID007)

We are proud to announce the release of the long-awaited Groan and Vinum Sabbatum split CD!

UK psychedelic doom 'n' rollers Groan meet Finnish classic rock and doom enthusiasts Vinum Sabbatum on a split release that's been 12 months in the making. Groan's up-tempo brand of doom 'n' roll is well-balanced by Vinum Sabbatum's more thoughtful hammond-lead psych-rock. Artwork featuring hidden, coded messages by Ralph Walters (Thorr-Axe and Pombagira cover artist).

The band will round off this burst of live activity with a trip to Ireland where they will play the Dublin Doom Days Warm-up Show! This is a big event as it is the first non-UK Iron Void show. After all this is done, the band will begin recording their debut album. The debut EP, Spell of Ruin will be reissued by Doomanoid Records immediately after the GROAN/VINUM SABBATUM split CD (NOID007) which is due out next. It will have the original 4 tracks plus 2 new recordings we made last summer: Suicide Sorcerer (this has been remixed since the Planet Doom Volume Two compilation and the vocals and leads are now a bit louder and clearer) and Drowning In Eternity (exclusive, previously unreleased track). The only delay is the cost of pressing it so please be patient.

Doom on!

We've gone mobile!

As of now, this blog is optimised for viewing on mobile phones. Now you can check in with Doomanoid on the move without using a magnifying glass!

Seems to work OK and it is much easier to read.

MISTY MORNING - Saint Shroom 12" artwork

Here's a sneak peak at the front cover artwork for the forthcoming Saint Shroom 12" vinyl EP from MISTY MORNING. The full artwork stretches across to the back cover - a really lavish piece from Rome's Ver Eversum Art Lab.

The record will mark the historic first ever vinyl release for Doomanoid Records (which will now be pressed on transparent RED vinyl, NOT green as previously advertised). It goes to press in the next few days and we will have the test pressings soon (and pics will be posted here). We will start taking pre-orders from the Doomanoid website in the near future.

This will be limited to 250 copies so to avoid missing out, please check either here or the label website regularly for updates.

GROAN - Official statement

Groan 2010-2011
by Leigh Jones on Wednesday, 08 June 2011 at 00:22

"The cat's out of the bag now I guess. Groan is putting all future plans on hold for the time being.

Thanks to everybody who came to see us or bought a CD or t-shirt over the last 12 months of rock and roll insanity. Things took off in a way that none of us ever expected and it was thanks to your support. It was only fitting that things came to a head with Groan the way that they did this weekend. There are probably four different versions of the events that lead to the demise of Groan. The reasons aren't important right now.

The Riff Wizard and the Forest-Dwelling Fuzz Creature will continue to make music and record the existing Groan demos together in the future. Whether or not it's under the Groan name remains to be seen...

Thanks again to you all."

GROAN split up?

It's our sad duty to announce that UK doom rock titans Groan have split up - At least in as far as the current line up is concerned. The supernova of rock conjoured up by The Riff Wizard in 2009 has imploded. Fear not, they left behind an album which is available now, and two new tracks for a split CD with Finnish rockers Vinum Sabbatum. These will be released later this year and will mark the end of the Groan phenomenon as we know it.

So tonight we give thanks to The Riff Wizard, Mazzareth, The Forest Dwelling Fuzz Creature and Thor's Hammer for the music and the fuzzy memories.

The Riff Wizard will continue with his band Purple Elf
The Forest Dwelling Fuzz Creature has just joined Pagan-folk group Beneath The Oak
Mazzareth will contunue with his band Rattz Ass

If you never saw them live at any of the handful of shows they played , here is a taster of what you missed, and a reminder for those of us who did.

Doomsday V festival. Tickets on sale NOW!

Here's the final lineup for the fifth Doomsday festival. We are pleased to announce that underground legends ASOMVEL have been added to the bill and will be on stage just before MAGMA RISE. Still the cheapest priced Doom all dayer you will find anywhere. The promoter has kept the price down because of the recession, because it's up north and also because they know most Doom fans are broke (just like us!). At this price you have no excuse but to attend!

Tickets are on sale now from the Doomanoid Records website:
http://www.doomanoidrecords.com

For those who cannot attend (or are overseas), there will be a live audio and video stream all day from the Snooty Fox Website:

IRON VOID - Spell of Ruin now on Spotify!

The debut IRON VOID EP, Spell of Ruin is now available to stream from Spotify. A CD re-issue with bonus tracks is planned for later this year (we haven't ruled out vinyl at some point. We know that is what you all really want!). Until then you can listen to it here. This EP looks set to be something of an historical curiosity, as it features former 2nd guitarist Simon Guy and recently departed drummer Diz Dyson (now drumming with Biolab 666).

Iron Void drummer leaves

Iron Void have parted ways with their long time drummer Diz Dyson. The band are currently organizing an audition for a new drummer ready for writing and recording their debut full length album later in the year.  Diz continues to play live with his band Biolab 666 and we wish him well with that and all his future music.

The debut EP, Spell of Ruin will be reissued at some point in the near future as many fans have been left wanting a copy after first limited pressing sold out.

New releases for 2011

Hello again,

We have some amazing new releases from Wiht, Groan/Vinum Sabbatum (split EP) and Misty Morning (vinyl!) planned for the coming months. Please make an order from the website if you can afford to. All proceeds go towards pressing these.

We also celebrate the NATIONWIDE UK retail release of The Sleeping Wizard by GROAN, on CD this month. It's out 14th March on HMV.com, Amazon.co.uk, Play.com and from both the Code7 and PHD websites.

New 2011 releases:

14th March 2011 : GROAN - The Sleeping Wizard (also OUT NOW from the Doomanoid website)

COMING SOON (Release dates TBC):

MISTY MORNING - Saint Shroom - Limited edition 12" GREEN VINYL maxi-single. 2 brand new epic Doom 'n' roll tracks, each over 10 minutes in length, with exclusive artwork from Rome's Ver Eversum Art Lab. Stay tuned for more news on this historic first Doomanoid Records vinyl release!

WIHT - The Harrowing of The North CD - The Harrowing of The North is a two song, forty minute concept piece, set for a springtime release. Taking influence thematically from the subjugation of the North of England by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it tells the troubled history of doomsday-era Yorkshire- the king massacred it’s people and destroyed the land to ensure it held no economic or cultural worth and would remain under his subservient rule.

GROAN / VINNUM SABBATUM - Split CD - Two brand new tracks from the UK doom rock sensations GROAN and Finnish retro doomsters Vinnum Sabbatum, who conclude the CD with the epic track Disilluisioned Pilgrims. Not to be missed!

Your support is appreciated, it really is!

Recommended for fans of Cathedral, Iron Monkey, Eyehategod, Unearthly Trance, the slower moments of Brutal Truth and Planet of The Apes!
